BATU KAPAL AND RIZAL CAVE
The location of this cave is in the slope of
Bukit Barisan Hulu, Bahorok district. This area is still virgin and no illegal
logging ever happens. To reach this place, visitors have to walk through a
small path on the slope of the hill.
The air around the cave is very cool and fresh.
Inside the cave, there are lots of bird’s feces which can be used as compost.
This place is also suitable to be used as a place of wandering and camping.
Nowadays, the cave is crowded with the foreign tourists while there are a few
domestic tourists interested in visiting the cave.
This place is about 86 kilometers from Binjai
and takes about 3 hours of riding from Binjai.
BUKIT
LAWANG TOURISM
Bukit Lawang tourism is located in
Bahorok district, Langkat North Sumatera. This place has a boundary with Leuser
Mount National Park. At first Bukit Lawang is Orangutan rehabilitation centre,
but along with its development this area become orangutan observation center or
viewing centre and become interesting tourism destinasions in Bukit Lawang Area
which is interested by foreign tourists
To reach Bukit Lawang, we can travel
overland from Medan City. Then we pass Binjai City by using public transport
from Pinang Baris Medan. It also can be
taken by using private transport, and it
needs about 2,5 hours at a distance of about 80 km
If we will visit Orangutan’s breeding, we
can go to there by tracking and down the river at a distance of about 20
minutes. After that we go on to cross the river by
using a small lace boat.

Batu
Katak Tourism
The
location of this tourism is not far from Bukit Lawang Tourism which has been
popular in foreign countries. Batu Katak Tourism’s distance is only about ± 7 km from Pekan Bahorok or ±80 km from
Medan city. The travel takes from Medan – Binjai – Pekan Bahorok- Batu Katak.
We should turn left from Simpang Bahorok and then go straight, in the end of
the road we will find Batu Katak Tourism. From Medan City to Batu Katak
Tourism takes 2,5 hours of riding.
In
Batu Katak, visitor can enjoy beauty sceneries of Batu Katak. We can see the
biggest flower or Raflesia and amazing cave.
SALANG PANGERAN
LANGKAT TOURISM
To reach this location from Medan to Timbang
Lawan Village is about 2-3 hours by using private transport, it’s way is same
with Bukit Lawang ecotourism’s way. At Timbang Lawang Village from traffic lane
to reach Pintu Rimba is about 3 kilometers using by vehicle. To reach Pintu
Rimba we will pass people’s home and people’s gum garden areas. It is extreme
to reach there because we should pass road sole and it’s danger when rain come
down. After we reach Pintu Rimba, to go to the waterfall we should go to there
with guide on that area. From Pintu Rimba to the waterfall we should track to
cross Landak river which the deep is as high as adult’s kneel and road sole of
people’s gum graden. Then, we will find small river flow of Selang Pangeran
river and pass it again, after we pass Selang Pangeran small river, we should
pass TNGL forest (Lauser Mount National Park) which has higher track, it’s
caused by location of the waterfall is between TNGL and people’s area garden. From
pintu rimba to waterfall’s location is about one hour.
KERAPUH RIVER
TOURISM – KENCUR HILL
This
tourism is relative new, is located in Sampe Raya Village, Bahorok District. To
reach this tourism, takes 3 hour of reading from Medan, can use private
transport or public transport from Pinang Baris Medan Station, the location of
this tourism is still nature, visitors can see beauty of nature Leuser Mount
National Park, cave expedition, look Orang Utan, Raflesia Flower. And this
tourism object has a potency to be nature school to student and public.
ECOTOURISM AREA OF TANGKAHAN
The ecotourism area of Tangkahan is located in
Batang Serangan district. The thick forest that covers the national park of
Leuser Mountain which keeps thousands kinds of flora and fauna like orang
utans, Sumatran Tigers, Kedih, elephants, and some kinds of birds such as Kwau,
peacock, and hornbill makes Tangkahan so beautiful and attractive. There are
also same kinds of rarb fauna which are being preserved, like bunga bangkai /
raflesia that stimulates visitors to visit this place
The water of Batang Serangan River that is inhabited
by some kinds of fish such as Jurung, Paitun, Sibarau and Cancan, is potential
to be a place for fishing. This location is also equipped with 3 cottages which
are built in the forest. For those who love adventure, this object will be very
challenging especially in doing some activities like trekking, tubing, camping,
and enjoying the adventure by riding
elephants. We can also find and enjoy the hot spring, waterfall, and some
fantastic caves in this place.
We can reach the ecotourism area of Tangkahan by
using four and two-wheel vehicles. This location is about 124 kilometers and
takes 4 hours of riding from Medan toBinjai and pass Stabat City to Tanjung
Pura, and when we arrive at Pasar Sepuluh station, we turn left to Batang
Serangan District.

THE BATHING PLACE OF PANGKAL NAMU
SIRA – SIRA
The bathing place of Pangkal Namu Sira-Sira is
located in Blinteng and Namu Sira-Sira village. The object of this resort is a
clear river with cool and fresh water. This object is in the area of irrigation
project of Namu Sira-Sira, Sei Bingai district, with the distance about 18
kilometers from Binjai. Visitors can reach this place by using four-wheel
vehicles and takes about 30 minutes. This bathing place is apparently a dam
project which is used to irrigate the farm, but the beautiful panorama of this
place makes it to be an alternative tourist resort which is crowded at
holidays.
RAFTING IN SEI WAMPU RIVER
Rafting is an adventurous tour or it can also be
called as ‘special interest tour’. Sei Wampu is a tourist object where rafting takes
place. It is located in Marike village, Salapian district, about 79 kilometers
from Medan.

AZIZI MOSQUE
One of some historic mosques with beautiful and
glorious architecture in North Sumatra is Azizi Mosque. This mosque is located
in Tanjung Pura. The mosque which was constructed by Sultan Abdul Aziz, the
king of Langkat at that time, was built in 1902 and covers an area about 24.000
square meters. The mosque with wonderful architecture was beautified with
Persia Mosaic..
The mosque standing on the roadside heading in
the direction of Medan-Aceh is much visited for praying, and many visitors also
make a devotional visit to the grave of Tengku Amir Hamzah, who was known as
the king of poets of Pujangga Baru era
of Indonesian Literature. The grave is located on the left side of the mosque.
THE BATHING PLACE OF BLUE BEACH
This tourist object is located in Pamah Tambunan
village, about 8 kilometers from the capital of Salapian district or about 50
kilometers from Binjai. This resort is called Pemandian Pantai Biru (the
bathing place of blue beach) for the water of the river is cool, clear, and bluish
and makes the stones on the riverbed are visible clearly.
This place is crowded with visitors on school
vacation. It is a place for recreation with mountainous air. It is also
suitable to be used as a camping ground, especially for teenagers.
Not only the cool water, but the resort also has
an old cave which is called “Alam Liang”. The cave is much visited because it
is not dangerous and can be made as a shelter in rainy day.
The panorama of this place is still virgin. It
can be seen from the beehives hanging on the steep riverbanks which is never
empty for the last 50 years and may have more than 10 beehives.
The
beauty of Piam rive, the bathing place of Pantai Biru, is the
characteristic of this place. Besides,
there is also a band show at holidays that is made to attract more visitors.
BERAWE BEACH
Berawe beach is located in Kampai Island,
Pangkalan Susu district. The spread of the white sand looking out on the
Malacca Straits is beautiful and comfortable for maritime tourism activities.
The sea waves and the wind blow give a wonderful and unforgettable atmosphere
to the visitors.
This tourist resort is about 96 kilometers from
Medan or about 53 kilometers from Stabat, the capital of Langkat regency. The
visitors may start the tour by taking a bus to Pangkalan Susu at Pinang Baris
bus station. They may continue the journey by hiring a boat towards the beach.
It takes about 45 minutes to get to this place and the visitors can enjoy the
beauty of this place as much as they want.
It is not only because of the Berawe beach, but
Kampai Island is also known as a high quality terasi producer (condiment made
from pounded and fermented shrimp or small fish). Terasi (belacan) is a home
industry product of the people of Kampai Island.
KUALA SERAPUH BEACH
Kuala Serapuh beach is located in Tanjung Pura
district, along the shore of Malacca Straits. This tourist resort has a
beautiful scenery with the wide spread of white sand of about 6 ha. The beach
is overgrown with green casuarinas forest in which some kinds of birds and
monkey live. Some activities that can be done on the beach are beach volley
ball, fishing, camping, and flying kite competition. There are also some
facilities such as cottages and any kinds of Malay food.
To get to this place, visitors may start the
tour from the harbor in Tanjung Pura. It takes about 40 minutes to get to this
place through Batang Serangan River.
LAU BERTE WATERFALL
The location of the waterfall is in Sei Bingai River,
about 10 kilometers to the north of Pekan Namu Ukur or about 28 kilometers from
Binjai. Besides enjoying the beauty of the waterfall, visitors can also enjoy
the beauty of the panorama of this place. On vacatio days, many people come to
visit this place to find and to enjoy the beauty of the river with its cool and
fresh water.
This resort is also comfortable to be used as a
camping ground and forest trekking. The waterfall with about 40 meters of
height can actually be developed as electric generator.
KAMPUNG BALI (BALI VILLAGE)
Bali Island is a tourist island which is already
well-known all over the world. So popular is Bali as a tourist resort that most
of foreign tourists know Bali rather than Indonesia. When the interest of
visiting Bali appears, visitors do not have to there, because in Wampu
district, Langkat regency, they can enjoy the way of life of Balinese with all
its enhancement and uniqueness.
There are some puras (Balinese house of worship)
like Pura Alit Widie Nata and Pura Panitaan Agung Jagat Widie Nata which are daily
used for Balinese Hinduism ritual. Bali village which is inhabited by over 60
families live with a strong customs and religion. At some particular times, we
can see religious ritual called Purnama Tilem and Hararwati. As faithful
Hinduism followers, they conduct a ceremony of Nyepi holiday and a celebration
of Saka New Year. Being in Bali village makes us feels as if we were in the
true Bali Island.
To get to this place, we can use four and
two-wheel vehicles through Paya Tusam village, Wampu district with the distance
of about 38 kilometers from Stabat.
THE CAVE AND THE WATERFALL OF MARIKE
The location of the cave and the waterfall of
Marike are about 3 kilometers to the east of Pekan Marike, Salapian district.
It is about 74 kilometers from Medan and 52 kilometers from Binjai and takes
about 2 hours of riding from Medan and 1 hour from Binjai.
The are is still virgin with some cowes and a waterfall
of 12 m of height. One of the caves is about 60 meters, if comes out at another
cave and is a short cut. The have to use a torch or a spotlight to pas through
it.
This resort is suitable to be used as a camping
ground. Nowadays, the cave and the waterfall get crowded with visitors most of
whom are from Langkat regency.
To
attract more visitors and to increase the tourist interest in visiting this
place, the government of Langkat regency has started to manage and develop this
tourist resort.
BABUSSALAM
According to Arabic language, Babussalam means
“the door of prosperity”. Babussalam is a religious tourist object which can
also be called as cultural preservation. This Tariqat Naqsyabandi center was
built in 1876 by Allah Yarrham Tuan Syekh Abdul Wahab Rokan who was popular
with the name of Tuan Guru Besilam (Master Teacher of Besilam). The first Tuan
Syekh was born on September 28, 1830 AD in Danau Randa Rantau Binuang Sakti,
Negeri Tinggi Bengkalis. He died on November 28, 1886 AD. He and his family
were buried in a building with Mosque architecture which is located beside
Babussalam mosque.
Babussalam is mostly visited by the followers of
Tariqat Naqsyabandi from either domestic or foreign countries such as Malaysia,
Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, and Philippine. The greatest number of
grave visitors is achieved when the day of his death is celebrated or it is
popularly called “Haul Tuan Guru Besilam”. Not less than 5000-7000 people come
to attend the celebration.
BATHING PLACE OF TANJUNG KERANG
This beach lies about 2 km to right from the way
of Pangkalan Susu. The beach is very beautiful with it’s white and clean sand.
Bathing place of Tanjung Kerang is always
crowded during holidays or vacation. And at this tourist object food and
beverage are available from the seller.
The region was first built by the State Owned
Oil Company Field Unit of Pangkalan Susu. It’s good for cruising and fishing.
The road to this place is clean and beautiful the beach is also well-kept.

km from Pangkalan Susu but if we start for Binjai. It’s about 80 km.
